About Us – Our Story
At In Car Safety Centre, keeping children safe on the road isn’t just our business – it’s our family’s mission.
For more than 30 years, families across the UK and Ireland have trusted us for expert advice, high-quality car seats, and reassurance that their little ones are protected.
Where It All Began
Back in the 1980s, Simon Bellamy saw a gap: parents were left on their own when it came to choosing the right car seat. With his background in road safety, Simon decided to change that.
He founded the In Car Safety Centre to do more than sell products – he wanted to listen to parents, answer their questions, and provide expert, independent guidance.
Over the decades, Simon built a reputation for combining specialist knowledge with genuine care. He pioneered Extended Rear Facing in the UK, a campaign that is still championed by our staff today.
A New Chapter
In 2023, Simon decided to step back from day-to-day operations. He now dedicates his time to training and talks, passing on his knowledge to parents and professionals in the police, fire-service and government both at local and national level.
Today, Simon’s stepson, Gareth Johnston, leads the business. Alongside his wife Catriona – who runs the daily operations – Gareth is proud to keep the business family-run and family-focused.
