Rear-Facing Car Seats (Up to 4 Years / 105cm)

Rear-Facing Car Seats (Up to 4 Years / 105cm)

Rear-facing car seats provide the highest level of protection for babies and young children. At In Car Safety Centre, we have been supplying and promoting rear-facing car seats since 1988, long before they became widely recognised for their safety benefits.

Our range of rear-facing car seats is suitable from birth up to approximately 4 years of age (up to 105cm), depending on your child’s height and weight. Many models support children up to 18kg, offering reliable protection throughout the most vulnerable early years.

Choosing the correct rear-facing seat should always be based on your child’s current height and weight, as these factors determine how long they will fit safely within the seat. While children vary in size, their physical development follows the same pattern, making rear-facing essential for all young children.

A baby’s skeleton is largely made of cartilage, which gradually hardens into bone as they grow. The spine, in particular, remains underdeveloped in early childhood, with full spinal development not reached until around 6 years of age.

In the event of a collision, a rear-facing car seat supports the head, neck and spine, distributing crash forces across the entire back of the seat. Forward-facing seats restrain the body but allow the head and neck to move forward, increasing the risk of serious injury.

A baby’s head accounts for approximately 25% of their body weight, compared to just 6% in adults, which is why rear-facing travel offers significantly better protection.

Even for taller or heavier children, rear-facing up to the maximum limits of the seat is strongly recommended. We stock a wide selection of rear-facing car seats to suit different vehicles and family needs. Browse our range or contact our expert team for personalised advice.
