At In-Car Safety Centre, we understand that getting the right In-Car support for children with disabilities or medical needs can be a financial challenge. That’s why we work with trusted charities like Caudwell Children, who may be able to help you access the funding you need.

If your child needs a specialist car seat or In-Car safety equipment and you’re worried about the cost, read on to find out if you're eligible for funding and how to apply through Caudwell Children.

Who Are Caudwell Children?

Caudwell Children is a UK charity that supports disabled children and their families by providing practical and financial support, including funding for equipment like specialist car seats. Their aim is to make life easier for families and improve children's health and wellbeing.

Are You Eligible for Funding?

To qualify for funding support from Caudwell Children, your family must meet the following criteria:

  • The child must be under 19 years old
  • The child must have a confirmed diagnosis of a disability or terminal illness
  • The child and family must live legally in the UK
  • You will be considered for our support if you can demonstrate that either: You are in receipt of means-tested benefits OR your household income is no more than £60,000 excluding benefits and you have no more than £16,000 in savings.

How to Apply for Funding

Applying for support is straightforward. Here's a step-by-step guide to the application process:

1. Submit an Application to Caudwell Children

o Start by filling out the online application form on the Caudwell Children website.

2. Provide Supporting Documents

Once your application is received, Caudwell Children will ask for:

  • Proof of your child’s diagnosis
  • Proof of household income or benefits
  • A supporting letter from a healthcare professional (e.g., occupational therapist, GP, or hospital specialist)
  • A quotation for the equipment needed

3. Get Help Choosing a Supplier

If you don’t already have a supplier in mind, Caudwell Children will give you a list of registered suppliers. The In-Car Safety Centre is proud to be one of them.

4. Application Review and Decision

Funding decisions are made on a monthly basis. Once all documents are submitted, your application will be considered in the next available funding round.

5. Funding Approval

If approved, you’ll receive an email confirming the grant and a ‘Donation Agreement’ to sign. Families are asked to make a 20% contribution towards the total cost.

6. Ordering Your Equipment

Once your agreement and contribution are received, Caudwell Children will raise a purchase order directly with us at In-Car Safety Centre, and we’ll get started with your order.
