In Car Safety Centre, was the first company in the UK & Ireland, to sell Extended Rear-Facing (ERF) Child Car Seats. These were originally used for children that experienced special or additional needs. However, in recent years ERF has become more acceptable, and many of us believe that this was the safest way for our children to travel. ERF seats are certainly safer than conventional forward-facing seats.
With the arrival of the CYBEX Anoris T i-Size in the market, using the impact shield and airbag technology, we now have as safe an option to ERF products. Our brand-new seat from CYBEX has been awarded the best child car seat ever tested in its class according to Stiftung Warentest and ADAC. This is the first child seat with an integrated full-body airbag, and it achieved an unprecedented overall score of 1.5 in the category “toddler plus child” as well as a top score of 0.9 – a never before seen score in the test’s history - in both frontal and side collision and 1.2 in the overall category “safety”. Parents now have a safer option to choose from alongside Extended Rear-Facing seats, albeit at a price.
The CYBEX Anoris T i-Size offers approximately 50%* more protection than conventional forward-facing seats - thanks to its impact shield and integrated full body airbag. The inflated airbag covers the size and age range of Anoris T i-Size (76 - 115 cm, max. 21 kg, from >15 months up to approx. 6 years). In the event of a crash, the airbag activates, the impact shield doubles its size for a split-second for full-body protection.
The safety concept of the airbag, is based on the principle of a car airbag for adults, amended to the needs of children. One might describe the deployment of the air bag as a ‘softer’ deployment, compared to vehicle airbags. This deploys when the sensors/computer signals determine that there are sufficient forces being generated to deploy the airbag. The speed of deployment is the speed of a blink of an eye. If the air bag deploys, the whole seat will require to be replaced. This is the same for any seat if occupied in the event of an accident.
The forward-facing seat enables easy eye contact through the rear-view mirror and offers considerably more legroom and easy entry into the seat. The car seat shell is designed to protect your child’s growing limbs. It provides ergonomic comfort from >15 months until your child is approximately 6 years old. Starting from 76 cm, it can grow up to a height of 115 cm, and a maximum of 21 kg. Consequently, it can be used two years longer than most conventional car seats. The Anoris T i-Size has 3 reclining positions, offering a suitable recline for each growth stage.
A 2017 TÜV study showed that 94% of parents surveyed had placed their child forward facing sooner than recommended. Parents tend to want the comfort and convenience of forward-facing travel as soon as possible. The CYBEX Anoris T i-Size gives parents a safe option to do that.
