Meet The Team
Managing Director Simon Bellamy has over 25 years’ experience in Children’s Car Safety. Simon sees ICSC as a ‘centre of excellence’ in the field of child safety. He believes it is an area of safety so important, that those that sell seats should be licensed to do so. To be at the forefront in this area requires constant research, a strong relationship with the manufacturers and a sharp focus on our staff training. Born in Northamptonshire, Simon divides his time between Belfast and Great Brington, where he lives with his wife Geri. The 4 children have flown the nest, Bailey the Labrador and Archie the Jack Russell are all that remain.
ICSC Manager Linda, was present for the ‘birth’ of the original ICSC, Milton Keynes, so long ago she asks not to be reminded of the date! Suffice to say, she has a mass of experience and plenty of horror stories to tell. Having undertaken training with all the major manufacturers and witnessed the developments in the performance of child car seats, she finds it hard, looking back, to believe how children were transported in the past. Staff training her main focus, but she also somehow finds time to run training courses for Road Safety Officers and Health workers, local parent groups and those involved with children with special needs. Outside of work Linda says she likes to ‘read and work in the garden’… but we know differently.
Louise started at ICSC in 2006 as a Saturday assistant while continuing with her studies at Ousedale School. Having not been dissuaded by what she had seen, she is now a fully-fledged member of staff. Louise and some of the other younger members of staff have an amazing capability to store knowledge about the more obscure details of a particular car (does that make them ICSC Geeks?). Louise is also our Social Media/Communications coordinator. Louise also has two dogs, Oscar (a naughty Jack Russell) and Indi (the better behaved gun dog).
John - Joined ICSC in 1989, not long after our move to our existing premises, in Milton Keynes. He manages the busy warehouse and our stock inventory system. His main objective is in ensuring that the customers get what they want, when they want. He’s a big guy, so puts a lot effort in the avoidance of fitting seats in customer cars, for fear of getting stuck! In his free time he supports Arsenal (no comment) and enjoys fishing.
Manager of ICSC Rayleigh, Cathy has worked in the field of child safety for over 25 years (is it really that long!?). She was first involved as part of the Essex County Council Road Safety Team. Her responsibility within this department was child safety in the car. Cathy also helped set up the 'Essex Child Seat Centre'. After leaving Essex County Council she was delighted to join ICSC after long admiring their commitment to child safety. Cathy has always believed that child car seats should be sold by specialists and not within the nursery or toy sector. Cathy has 4 grown up children and 3 grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys reading and walking with her two rescue dogs, Misha, the Springer cross, and Milo, the chocolate Labrador.
Dawn joined early in 2013 a little while after the birth of her second child, Faith. At the time she applied for the sales assistant position she was relatively new to the area and also new to the world of In Car Safety other than through her own experience. She has had many dealings with parents and children in her previous employment. Dawn also has another daughter called Isla and two dogs, Daisy and Alfie. Dawn is now a fully fledged member of the ICSC team.
Ash joined In Car Safety in 2006 after the birth of her first son Ben. She first discovered ICSC after hearing a talk at her ante natal class. She had already purchased seats from us before she applied for the sales assistant position that she still holds. Having undertaken the necessary training, like all members of staff, she not only has the necessary working knowledge required but a total belief in the benefit of what we do. Ash is very involved with our pre and post natal talks, advising parents or parents-to-be about the safest way to transport their child. With the arrival of Matthew in 2011 and Lucy in 2014, Ash certainly has her hands full at home.
Stuart, joined the company in 2012 as a trainee in ICSC Milton Keynes, now working in ICSC Belfast he assists in the selling of extended rear facing seats. He is involved in the distribution of seats and the organisation of hip Spica seat loan scheme. He is a avid Manchester united supporter, but otherwise enjoys good health! He also enjoys rowing.
Rebecca joined ICSC Rayleigh in 2015 after visiting us a customer for her daughter Arabella. She is very passionate about extended rearward facing and actually applied for the job on the day she purchased Arabella's new seat! Rebecca enjoys running and eating cake which creates a healthy balance in her life.
Jane is, together with Cathy, a founding member of the ICSC Rayleigh team. She has been involved in children's car seat safety since 2007 and originally got into it through her other job as a Road Safety Officer for Southend Borough Council. Jane is passionate about car seat safety and is really happy to be part of the ICSC team. Jane lives in Southend with her two teenage daughters and when she has spare time she likes to spend it with her friends and family. She enjoys walking, cycling, reading and listening to music.
Nicola joined in January 2016 as a part time sales assistant in our Milton Keynes branch. She was attracted to ICSC after hearing about us whilst in previous employment. Nicola is very passionate about car seat safety, hence the reason she applied for this job! Nicola lives in Northampton with her fiancée, three children, one cat and three rabbits. In her spare time she enjoys walking, camping, swimming and spending quality time with the children.
Karen joined ICSC in April 2015 and works in our ICSC Rayleigh branch alongside Cathy, Jane, Sue and Rebecca. Karen lives with her husband, her dog Baloo and their little white cat. Karen and her husband are currently going through the adoption process and are going to Panel in June. They are hoping to adopt a sibling group of two.. Karen has already picked out both extended rear facing seats for both of their cars!
