Plus Tested

Plus Tested is a Swedish standard, not an EU Regulation, and it is therefore not mandatory. It was created in 2009 at the VTI Crash Lab in Linköping to ensure that child car seats manage high forces against the neck in the event of a collision. The two types of seats tested are 18kg ISOFIX seats or... 25kg belted seats. This supplementary test is conducted at a higher speed than normal compared to European standards ECE R44 and R129, and it is also tested at a shorter braking distance. This represents a more realistic crash situation. As well as the tougher testing, the Plus Test also measures the forces on the crash test dummy’s neck with sensors. This is why only rear-facing seats are tested, as forward-facing car seats present forces that are too high on the neck. We understand why our customers are interested in seats that are Swedish Plus Tested, but we would just like to note that although it is tested at a higher speed and a shorter braking distance, the test speed is 56 km/h, as opposed to 50 km/h, so this is still not representative of the speed at which many of us drive on a daily basis. However, the majority of crashes do occur in these speed zones. The Plus Tested seats that we offer are all ERF 25kg seats, which we do often recommend as a great choice of seat. We have an extensive range of seats, but the number of Plus Tested seats is limited, so please be aware you will be limiting your options if you just opt for Plus Tested.
