AX Kid

Axkid may be considered the new kids on the block. Established in 1996 and based in Sweden, the company has hit the ground running, with seats now available in each Group. Axkid is another company that recognises the benefit of travelling rear facing.

BeSafe

Besafe, a Norwegian Company have been manufacturers of Children’s car seats since 1963, like some of its competitors its origins were in the saddle making trade. Today it has expanded into other safety products like safety helmets. While the company has a long history, it is only in recent years that Besafe has established itself as a supplier of children’s car seats in the UK. It is a leader in the field of extended rear facing seats, although it does offer comprehensive range of seats as well.

Britax

Britax has been involved in the manufacture of automotive safety products since it was formed in 1938. It was in 1966 when they introduced their first child car seat. Since that time they have been at the forefront of developments in children’s safety products and the ‘moulding’ of regulations relating to them. They were the first to introduce Isofix in 1997 and have been manufacturing extended rear facing seats for over 20 years. One of the largest manufacturers of child’s car seats in the world, with their own in-house testing facility they probably offer the widest range of seats available. In Car Safety Centre is proud to be recognised as an ‘Excellence centre’ for Britax.

Casualplay

Casualplay are a family owned company based in Barcelona. Formed in 1966, they were the first company to design, manufacture and sell a child’s car seat in Spain. They are committed to developing and manufacturing ’long lasting, functional and unique products. There philosophy includes a strong commitment to quality, as you might expect, but also to the environment. They also donate a significant proportion of their profits to non profit organisation such as the Cerebral Palsy Association.

Concord

The brand Concord has been around for over 35 years. They pride themselves in manufacturing high quality state-of-the-art children's car seats.

Cybex

Cybex has been in business since 2005, it might be considered a comparatively short time for a company that has established itself in the way it has. It is another company that has invested heavily in research and development so it would be difficult to describe their products as ordinary, even if their colour options might be considered extraordinary! The first company to produce an Isofix seat on a swivel base, they exposed a niche in the market that everyone knew was there, but failed to exploit. As seat regulations change to reflect the requirements of i-size, it will be interesting to see how Cybex along with the other manufacturers respond to the new needs of the market.

Diono

Diono is a manufacturer of child safety seats and travel, stroller and car seat accessories. Diono, formerly Sunshine Kids Juvenile Products, was founded in 1999, and headquarters in Sumner, Washington.

Hauck

Hauck GmbH is another company with a strong history, having been established in 1927. This family run company has developed over four generations to become a recognised provider of a wide range of nursery products. A major provider of wheeled goods and nursery furnishings this company is now providing a small range of child car seats as well.

Joie

Having been in the nursery trade for a good number of years, Joie prides themselves on their devotion to do what is right for parents, children and the environment.

Kiddy

Kiddy was originally known as Sicartex . The company has had some involvement with Children’s car seats since 1976. The Kiddy brand has established itself in the nursery market. The current range of child seats introduced in 2006, were manufactured using materials such as expanded polypropylene. The Kiddy range have traditionally used impact pads as an alternative to ‘5’ point harnesses. They also use honey comb structured foam to improve side protection in the seats.

Klippan

Klippan is a brand that seems to have been about for years. The company has in fact been in existence for over 40 years, like Britax it had an involvement with the manufacture of seat belts turning to children’s car seats in 1967. From its factory in Finland, this family owned company has established itself as a manufacturer of extended rear facing seats, while still continuing with its manufacture of other safety products. It is one of the few companies that has its own test rig, capable of testing seat belts to R16, Child seats to R44 and special tests from speeds from 15 to 60 km/h.

Maxi-Cosi

Maxi-Cosi, was a family owed import business that became a manufacturer. In 1984 the company started manufacturing the first of a new type of seat known as the’ infant carrier’. This was a rear facing seat, to be used on the front passenger seat, in those days there was no such thing as airbags! This product offered many advantages to parents as soon became a ‘must have’ brand for many mothers worldwide. From these early beginning Maxi –Cosi developed a small range of quality forward facing seats. In 1994 the company was acquired by Dorel who continue to maintain and develop the brand.

Multimac

Multimac was founded in September 2008. It is an innovative, genius, safe product designed for medium to large families.

Nuna

Nuna, a Dutch brand, was established in 2007. Their motto is "Your adventures in parenthood will include plenty of sleeping, eating, growing, smiling, throwing, splattering, climbing and daydreaming. Because you want to be there for all of it, we at Nuna offer, a collection of smart baby equipment inspired by Dutch designers."

Recaro

Recaro have been involved with vehicle seating since about 1963, at this time, their focus was primarily on automotive seating. Today they manufacture seating for many markets, Airline and office seating among them. 1998 saw their introduction into the child seat market. Using their expertise, they created a seat called the ‘Start’ which utilises many of the components you would expect to find in an adult car seat.

Takata

Takata Corporation, founded in 1933, is an automotive parts company based in Japan. The company has production facilities on four continents, with its European headquarters located in Germany, where it also has nine production facilities.
